Megan Mirabito was born and raised in a small town in Central New York. After high school she headed to the Hudson Valley where she received a BFA in Graphic Design and BA in Journalism at SUNY New Paltz.
Journalism and graphic design are two complementary parts of an ancient tradition: storytelling. The stories we tell—be they spoken, written, illustrated or photographed—are integral to us as individuals and a society. They tell us who we are and who we want to be. Visual storytelling holds a special place in the past, present and future. What we communicate, and how we choose to do it, has the power to shape and inspire society today, but it also becomes a record of that moment in time and all its cultural conditions. The act of communication is perhaps one of the most important there is. Though we can never truly experience life through another individual, it is an attempt to share an experience, to learn from each other, to connect with people, to uncover truth. That is noble.
